Frequently asked questions

Where are my puzzles stored?

Puzzle images, progress, scores, and settings are stored on your device. FredShift Technologies does not operate a puzzle-storage server.

Can someone play an emailed puzzle without installing the app?

Yes. Every emailed puzzle includes a self-contained HTML attachment that can be saved and opened in a web browser. The recipient presses Scramble to begin.

Why can’t I open the puzzle email screen?

Picture Scramble prepares messages in Apple Mail. If Apple Mail is not configured on the device, add a Mail account in Settings before trying again.

How do I restore a purchase?

Open Puzzle Packs & Upgrades in Picture Scramble and choose Restore Purchases. Use the same Apple Account that originally obtained the purchase.

What changes when I buy Remove Ads?

Banner ads disappear immediately after the purchase is recognized. On later launches while the entitlement is active, Picture Scramble does not start Google’s Mobile Ads SDK or User Messaging Platform. Local puzzles, settings, and scores are unchanged.

How do I change advertising consent?

When Google requires a revisitable choice in your region, open Picture Scramble Settings and select Advertising Privacy Choices.

Why can’t I import an emailed puzzle automatically?

Tap the .picturescramble attachment, then choose Picture Scramble from the available apps or actions. iOS may show other compatible apps in the same list.

How do I remove a local puzzle?

Touch and hold the puzzle’s picture in the Puzzle Library and choose Delete. Included puzzles can be hidden; add-on pack puzzles can be removed and later reinstalled from Puzzle Packs & Upgrades.

How is a best score determined?

The result with the fewest moves is best. If move counts tie, the result with fewer peeks wins. The time associated with that best result is recorded but does not break ties.

Can I change a puzzle’s size?

Yes. Before scrambling, choose 3 × 3, 4 × 4, or 5 × 5. Picture Scramble keeps a separate best score and solve count for each size. Touch and hold a Best score to compare all three records.

Why does a puzzle show Resume?

Resume appears after an unfinished puzzle has at least one move or has used solving assistance. Its board, moves, peeks, active time, assistance status, and selected Random track are saved. Backing out immediately after a scramble with zero moves does not retain a resumable session.

Does Random music change in the middle of a puzzle?

No. Random chooses one enabled track when the puzzle starts and keeps that track for the entire solve, including if you leave and resume it later.

Can I hide music loops I do not like?

Yes. Open Settings, then Music Library. Expand a collection to enable or disable individual loops, or use Enable All or Disable All for that collection. Disabled loops are removed from puzzle editors and are not selected by Random. At least one loop must remain enabled.

How do I find or arrange puzzles?

Use Search to find puzzles by name; filter the list to All Puzzles, Never Solved (at any size), Unsolved at the selected size, or In Progress; and choose Manual Order, Alphabetical, By Pack, or Recently Played. The ordering choice is remembered; search text and filters are temporary.

How do I turn puzzle animation off?

Open Settings and set Animation to Off. Animated details hold a representative still frame. Choose Off in Low-Power Mode to pause animation during Low Power Mode. Every animation mode respects Reduce Motion in the device’s Settings.

What does solving assistance change?

Tap the wand and choose a square for guided or automated help placing one tile. Touch and hold the wand for a guided or automated Full Solution. Guided help shows each slide for you to make; its Finish button can complete the current assist automatically. Any assisted scramble is ineligible for solve counts and best scores.

Can I replay a completed puzzle?

Yes. After a win, playback controls let you jump to either end, step backward or forward, or play and pause the recorded moves. A slider changes playback speed. Tap Play Again to return to the complete picture and size selector.

Can I see the guided tours again?

Yes. Open Help and tap Retake Guided Tours. After confirmation, tours will appear again as you revisit each area. To replay just one tour, choose it from Show a Tour in Help.

What happens if I change the missing tile?

If the puzzle has an unfinished game or recorded statistics, Picture Scramble explains what will be discarded or reset before applying the new missing tile. No warning is shown when there is nothing to lose.

Which orientations are supported?

Picture Scramble stays in portrait orientation on iPhone. On iPad, it supports portrait and landscape orientations.

What should I include in a support email?

Tell us your device model, iOS or iPadOS version, Picture Scramble version and build number, and what happened. Please do not send private photos unless they are necessary to explain the problem.
